Bonjour Madame La Tour Eiffel ! First week.
Dear parents and students,
Welcome to this official blog dedicated to the GA class taking place in Cherry Chase Elementary School, in Sunnyvale.
On this blog you will be able to follow what your child is doing and learning during the GA class.
Most of the students were already part of the EFBA program last year either in PA class or GA class. We are happy to welcome 3 new students, Alyssa, Zainab and Liam.
The first month of the class is dedicated to a quick review of the vocabulary studied last year with new exercises, games or nursery rhythms, stories.
Last week we went over various subjects;
- How to present one self
- Bonjour - Hello
- Je m'appelle Catherine - My name is Catherine
- Comment tu t'appelles ? - What's your name?
- Comment ca va? - How are you?
- Ca va bien - ca va comme ci comme ca - ca va mal - I'm good - I'm so-so - I'm not good
- The days of the week, the months of the year
- How to write the date in French
- The colours
- Vocabulary of the class
- Vocabulary given to allow the student to follow the teacher's requests during class:
Je lis - I read - Je colle - I glue - Je decoupe - I cut .....Please refer to the form given to each child during class.
Concerning the vocabulary I just needed to refresh their memory as most of them remembered quite well the vocabulary after a long summer. Just the writing of the date appeared to be a problem for most of them.
Vannina and I used the following exercises:
- First story; La semaine de Madame Souris to review the days of the week and learn some new vocabulary. Each student received a copy of the story and a list of words to help to the comprehension of the story.
- Second story: La petite souris achete...more complex story to review the days of the week as well as the colours and some vocabulary the students learned last year (salade, radis,tomate, fromage,pomme,poisson). The students had to complete the work by colouring and gluing some pictures, a good way to put into practice the teacher requests (Je colle - I glue, Je colorie - I colour).
